The Bridge is the perfect place to learn more for those who don’t yet know anything about Jesus – everyone is welcome!

We meet 5:30pm on Thursdays during ANU teaching weeks…

Botanic Gardens Outing 24th November

On Saturday November 24th, please join us as we visit the Australian National Botanic Gardens!

We will meet at ANU College at 10am and walk to the Botanic Gardens together. We will go on walks and be able to see lots of different types of Australian plants and animals. Bring your lunch and some water; we can have a picnic on the lawn. We will return back in the afternoon, around 3 or 4pm.

Christmas Carols 9th December

A local church (Crossroads Christian Church) is having a Christmas Carols event! The event will being at at 5pm at the oval at Merici College (in Braddon) with carols starting at 6:30pm.

Carols are a special type of song that is sung around Christmas, and are often about the birth of Jesus. Come along to find out more about Jesus and the importance and meaning of Christmas through this great cultural experience!

  • Time: We will leave Canberra Friday evening (28th) and arrive back Sunday evening (30th). Monday (1st October) is a public holiday, so you can catch up on study after the retreat!

    Cost: $115 (includes all accommodation and meals, except you will need to bring money for dinner Friday night, and petrol contributions)

    Location information: The campsite is located in the bush about 100mins away from Canberra. We will be sleeping in cabins (separate for male/female). There won’t really be any access to Internet or any mobile phone reception, but this will be a great opportunity to get to know each other better face to face!

    Activities: We will have a few talks from the Bible, have discussions in small groups, take walks in the bush, have a bonfire, eat together, play some games, see some wildlife…a great experience and great fun!

Free Dinner 5.30.8pm 9 August

Meet with and make friends at a local Australian’s home a few minutes walk from the ANU College and the ANU.

Join us for one of our regular Bridge ANU meetings. There’ll be snacks. We’ll have some great free food and have some fun. We’ll hear a personal story from a volunteer, play a game or two and listen to a Bible story. Please sign up let let us know you’re coming. We’ll send you details about where to meet. No regular bridge meetings during the summer break!

Just a reminder: We will not be having our regular Thursday meetings during the summer break. We will restart these meetings in February 2019!

We will also be having some special events over the break. Please come along if you are still in Canberra! The events will be advertised here.

Tidbinbilla Outing

We’re going to Tidbinbilla for a day out!

The plan is to meet outside ANU College at 10 AM. From there, we will drive down to Tidbinbilla. When we arrive, we will go for a walk. We’ll then relax and eat lunch together, before going for another walk. We’ll leave Tidbinbilla in time to be home by 4 PM.

Tidbinbilla is a beautiful place with many walking trails that have great views of the ACT. It also has lots of unique Australian wildlife (like koalas, wombats and platypuses) and Aboriginal heritage sites. We’ll try to choose walks with as many interesting things as possible! 🙂

It should be lots of fun! Please bring a bottle of water, good walking shoes, and a sandwich for lunch. Please also bring $5 to help cover petrol costs and the entrance fee.

On thursday 28 September please join us for the Bridge Dinner and English, 5.30-8pm in an Australian home just 3 minutes walk from the North Road exit from ANU, near the ANU College off Daley road. Join us for a great time of sharing together. Excellent food, make new friends and generally have a great welcome to Canberra. We’ll play a couple of games hear a story from the Bible and share some great moments together. We meet each week at 5.30pm on thursdays during semester. Sign up so we can know how much food to prepare and we’ll get in touch to let you know where to meet. Sign up by 12 noon on thursday 28 at the latest.

On thursday 20th September please join us for the Bridge Dinner and English, 5.30-8pm in an Australian home just 3 minutes walk from ANU. Join us for a great time of sharing together. Excellent food, make new friends and generally have a great time. We’ll play a couple of games hear a story from the Bible and share some great moments together. We meet each week at 5.30pm on thursdays during semester. Sign up so we can know how much food to prepare and we’ll get in touch to let you know where to meet. Sign up by 12 noon on thursday 20th at the latest, so we know how much food to cook.

Jesus Up Close Program

Are you interested in learning more about Jesus, the Bible and Christianity?

Jesus Up Close involves six one-hour sessions looking into Jesus and his message from the Bible.

Together with one other person at a time and place that works for you both of you will meet to read and discuss key passages from Mark’s Gospel – an account of one of the first eyewitnesses to Jesus. No prior knowledge needed and there’s a chance to ask your questions.
